Terms of Sale and Returns Policy
Last updated: 18th October 2026
1. About us and these terms
These terms apply to all books, merchandise and gifts you buy from www.mayasworldlywonders.com. Please read them before placing an order. By placing an order, you agree to these terms.
Products are sold by South Node Publishing Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 15775472, registered office 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, trading as Maya's Worldly Wonders®.
These terms are for consumers buying for personal use. If you are buying for a school, library, business or for resale, please see section 10. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
Contact us: info@southnodepublishing.com . We aim to reply within 5 working days.
2. Ordering and payment
Placing an order. When you place an order, you will receive an email acknowledging it. This does not mean your order has been accepted. Our contract with you starts when we email to confirm your order has been dispatched.
If we cannot accept your order. We may decline an order if a product is out of stock, if we cannot deliver to your address, or if there is an error in the price or description. If this happens, we will tell you and refund any payment in full.
Prices. All prices are shown in pounds sterling and. Delivery charges are shown at checkout before you pay. Prices may change, but changes will not affect orders already confirmed.
Pricing errors. Despite our best efforts, a product may occasionally be listed at the wrong price. If the correct price is higher than the price shown, we will contact you to ask whether you wish to continue at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
Payment. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Payment is taken when you place your order. Payments are processed securely by our payment provider and we do not store your full card details.
Pre-orders. Where a product is offered for pre-order, the expected dispatch date is shown on the product page. Payment is taken [at the time of ordering]. If the date changes, we will let you know and you may cancel for a full refund at any time before dispatch.
Product images. Our products are illustrated and photographed as accurately as possible, but colours may vary slightly depending on your screen, and handmade or printed items may vary slightly from the images shown.
3. Delivery
UK delivery. We aim to dispatch orders within 2 to 3 working days. Standard UK delivery usually takes 2 to 7 working days after dispatch. Tracked or express options are shown at checkout.
International delivery. We deliver to to UK and internationally. Delivery times and costs are shown at checkout. International orders may be subject to import duties, taxes or customs charges in the destination country. These are the customer's responsibility and are not included in our prices.
Delays. Delivery times are estimates. During busy periods such as festive periods, please allow extra time. If your order has not arrived within 30 days of the estimated delivery date, contact us and we will help, and you may be entitled to cancel for a full refund.
Lost parcels. If your order has not arrived, please contact us. Once we have confirmed with our carrier that it has been lost, we will send a replacement or a full refund.
Ownership and risk. Your order becomes your responsibility once it has been delivered to you, or to someone you have nominated, such as a neighbour or a safe place you have chosen. Ownership passes to you once we have received full payment.
4. Product safety and age guidance
The safety of children is our highest priority. Our toys, including the Maya plush doll, are independently tested to the EN71 toy safety standards and carry UKCA and/or CE marking.
Age guidance. Each product page shows the recommended age and any safety warnings. Please read these before buying and before giving a product to a child. Age guidance is based on safety testing, not reading or ability level, and should always be followed.
Adult supervision. Please check toys and merchandise regularly for wear or damage, and remove all packaging, tags and labels before giving a product to a young child. Keep this information for future reference.
Book age ranges. Our books are written for children aged 5 to 11. This is a reading guide only and not a safety warning, unless a book contains small parts or attachments, in which case a warning will be shown.
Safety concerns and recalls. If you have any concern about the safety of a product, stop using it and contact us straight away. If a product ever needs to be recalled, we will contact affected customers directly where we can, publish details on our website, and offer a full refund or replacement.
5. Changed your mind? Returns within 14 days
If you buy from our website, you have the right to cancel your order for any reason within 14 days of the day you, or someone you nominate, receives it. If your order arrives in separate parcels, the 14 days starts from the day you receive the last item.
To cancel, tell us within the 14 days by emailing info@southnodepublishing.com with your name, order number and the items you are returning. You can also use the model cancellation form at the end of these terms, but you do not have to.
Returning the items. You must then return the items to us within 14 days of telling us you wish to cancel. Unless the item is faulty or incorrect, you are responsible for the cost of returning it. We recommend using a tracked service, as items remain your responsibility until they reach us.
Condition of returns. You may handle items as you would in a shop to check them, but please return them in a resaleable condition, with all original packaging, tags and labels where possible. Books should be unread and undamaged, and toys and merchandise unused and unwashed. If an item has been used or handled more than necessary, we may reduce your refund to reflect any loss in value.
Gifts. If you received an item as a gift, contact us with the order number or gift receipt and we can arrange an exchange or a refund to the original payment method.
6. Faulty, damaged or incorrect items
We check every order carefully, but if something arrives damaged, faulty or is not what you ordered, we will put it right.
Damaged or incorrect items. Please contact us as soon as possible with your order number and a photo of the item and packaging. We will arrange a replacement or a full refund, including your original delivery cost, and cover the cost of returning the item to us.
Faulty items. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, products must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If an item is faulty:
-
within 30 days of delivery, you can return it for a full refund
-
after 30 days and within 6 months, we will repair or replace it, and if that is not possible or the fault happens again, you can have a refund
-
after 6 months, you may still be entitled to a repair, replacement or partial refund, but you may need to show the fault was present when you received the item
Printing and binding faults. Books with misprinted, missing or loose pages, or other printing and binding faults, are treated as faulty and will be replaced or refunded.
What is not a fault. Normal wear and tear, damage caused by misuse, accidents, or not following the care instructions (for example machine washing a plush doll marked surface wash only) are not faults.
7. Items that cannot be returned for a change of mind
The 14 days right to cancel in section 5 does not apply to the following items, unless they are faulty or incorrect:
-
Personalised or dedicated books, such as copies signed with a personal message or a child's name. Copies signed by the author without a personal dedication can be returned as normal.
-
eBooks and other digital downloads, once the download or access has started. At checkout, we will ask you to agree that the download can begin immediately and that you will lose your right to cancel once it does.
-
Sealed items unsealed after delivery that cannot be returned for health or hygiene reasons, such as water bottles once the seal or packaging has been opened.
This does not affect your rights if an item is faulty or not as described (see section 6).
8. How to return an item
-
Email info@southnodepublishing.com with your name, order number, the items you are returning and the reason. For damaged or faulty items, please include photos.
-
We will reply within 5 working days with your return instructions and, for damaged, faulty or incorrect items, a prepaid returns label.
-
Pack the items securely, ideally in their original packaging, and include a note with your name and order number.
-
Send the parcel to: Returns, South Node Publishing Ltd, 015, 165 Rotherhithe Street, London, SE16 5QF Please keep your proof of postage.
Please do not send items back without contacting us first, as this may delay your refund.
9. Refunds
Timing. We will process your refund within 14 days of receiving the returned items, or of receiving evidence that you have sent them back, whichever is sooner. For faulty items, we will refund you within 14 days of agreeing that you are entitled to one.
Method. Refunds are made to the original payment method. Depending on your bank or card provider, it may take a further 3 to 10 working days to appear in your account.
Delivery costs. If you cancel your whole order within 14 days, we will refund the standard delivery charge you paid. If you chose a faster or more expensive delivery option, we will only refund the cost of our standard delivery. If you return only part of an order, the original delivery charge is not refunded unless the item was faulty or incorrect.
Deductions. We may reduce a change of mind refund if an item has been used, damaged or handled more than necessary, as explained in section 5. We will always tell you the reason for any deduction.
Bundles and gift sets. If you return part of a discounted bundle or gift set, your refund will be based on the price you paid for the bundle, less the full price of the items you keep.
10. Events, schools, retailers and other channels
Event and pop-up purchases. The 14-day cancellation right applies to online orders only, not to purchases made in person at our pop-ups, fairs and events. However, as a goodwill gesture, we are happy to exchange or refund unused items bought at an event within [30] days if you contact us with proof of purchase. Your rights for faulty items (section 6) apply in full.
Schools, libraries and organisations. Bulk and educational orders are supplied on our separate trade terms, which we will send with your quote or invoice. Please contact info@southnodepublishing.com for educational pricing.
Retailers and wholesale. Orders for resale are supplied on our separate wholesale terms. Please contact us for details.
Other retailers and marketplaces. If you bought a Maya's Worldly Wonders® product from Amazon, TikTok Shop, a bookshop or another retailer, please contact that retailer about returns, as their own policy applies.
11. Our responsibility to you, complaints and the law
Our responsibility. If we fail to comply with these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our failure. We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for breach of your legal rights as a consumer. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, or for business losses, as our products are for personal use.
Events beyond our control. We are not responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, carrier strikes or supply problems. If this happens, we will tell you as soon as possible, and you may cancel for a full refund if the delay is significant.
Complaints. If you are unhappy with your order or our service, please contact us first and we will do our best to resolve it quickly. If we cannot, you may contact Citizens Advice for guidance on your options.
Intellectual property. Maya's Worldly Wonders®, the character of Maya and all related illustrations and content are protected by intellectual property rights and may not be copied, reproduced or used commercially without permission.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts of the country where you live.
Changes to these terms. We may update these terms from time to time. The terms in force when you place your order will apply to that order.
