Drumroll, please… The wait is officially over! Maya’s Sri Lankan Spice Trail of Tails has LAUNCHED and is already wagging its way into little hands (and hopefully a few dog baskets too 🐾).
This fifth adventure in the Maya’s Worldly Wonders series takes Maya (and you!) to sun-drenched Sri Lanka, where she finally meets her pen pal Ramy, dodges surfing wipeouts and tuk-tuks, rescues a wobbly-tailed retriever, and faces a fast-moving pandemic with courage and kindness. It’s spicy, snappy, and full of heart—perfect for readers aged 6–11 (and their adventurous aunties, uncles, and grandparents too).
📚 Where to Buy
The book is already strutting its stuff on Amazon (hello global distribution 🌍) AND on the official Maya’s Worldly Wonders shop. Paperbacks, hardcovers, worldwide delivery—the works! We’ll also be restocking at some of our favourite London bookshops soon, and you can already find the books on Waterstones’ website and through major online distributors.
And because we love a good partnership, I’m thrilled to share that Maya’s Worldly Wonders is now part of the Bookmark Reading Charity platform. This means our stories will be reaching even more children through volunteer reading sessions across the UK. Literacy + travel + imagination = the dream combo.
🛍️ Merch Madness
Oh yes, you asked, and we delivered: Maya merch is LIVE! From backpacks to water bottles to keyrings, you can now kit out your mini explorers with official Maya’s Worldly Wonders gear. Think of it as travel swag, kid-approved.
🎤 PR, Media & My Favourite Stunt Yet
This launch, I’ve gone full DIY PR ninja mode. SEO? Optimised. Self-promo? Check. Stunts? Always. I’ve been out there hustling—BBC Radio interviews, magazine features, media coverage circulating faster than a tuk-tuk in Colombo!
✨ Maya’s Online Book Tour
Starting THIS week, we’re taking Maya on a whirlwind blogger & reviewer tour. The aim? Get as many honest reviews as possible so parents, teachers, and book lovers far and wide can discover Maya’s adventures. Consider it a virtual world tour—minus the jet lag. Thanks to the LitPR team for helping me on this!
🎬 Lights, Camera, Animation!
And just when you thought things couldn’t get more exciting… we’ve launched Maya’s very first YouTube channel! 🎥 The channel kicks off with a series of short animated videos based on the books—Japan, Nepal, Malaysia, Brazil, AND Sri Lanka—bringing Maya’s adventures to life in full technicolour. Perfect for kids who want to travel the world from the comfort of the sofa.
🥳 So What’s Next?
The adventure train doesn’t stop here, folks! We’ve got author reading events lined up for the rest of the year at schools and libraries across London, plus even more Maya magic in the works. And guess what? The 6th instalment of Maya’s Worldly Wonders is already in the pipeline! 👀 (No, I don't sleep..Joke!)
Where will Maya jet off to next? 🌍✈️ I can’t spill the curry just yet, but let’s just say it’s going to be bold, brilliant, and bursting with culture. Stay tuned—your boarding passes will be ready soon!
If you haven’t already, grab your copy, binge the animations, and tell your friends (the human ones and the furry ones). And please—leave a review. They mean the world to indie authors like me and help Maya’s adventures fly further.
Here’s to making small acts of kindness, courage, and curiosity travel far.
With love and spice, Sharika x
